A tale of adventure, mystique and incredible grass roots sensuality will engulf anyone in “Hearts At Risk” A novel written from the heart and about the heart, Hearts At Risk by author Gloria Antypowich is a riveting tale that follows Frankie Lamont and Colt Thompson as they embark on a tempestuous journey filled with tantalizing sensuality along the way.

Veterinarian, Frankie Lamonte, has left her stress filled life in Alberta to become a ranch hand in the Cypress Hills in southern Saskatchewan, Canada. There she finds the solitude she seeks. But that peace is shattered when Colt Thompson enters the picture. Misunderstandings and mistrust make them clash constantly, but the chemistry between them is sizzling and undeniable. However, Frankie is not interested in romance; her long time love, Martin Cole, has recently taught her a painful truth about trust and love and romantic dreams. Colt has his own scars. For eight long years he has harbored his pain and anger, vowing he will never be vulnerable to love again. He goes to unexpected lengths to assure that Frankie will never be a part of his life. Will either one of them find happiness? Hearts At Risk tells all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't wait for the next one., January 10, 2012

This review is from: Hearts At Risk (Paperback)

I down loaded the e-version of Hearts at Risk because I couldn't get it anywhere in my area. I had it on my Touch pad in about 30 seconds and then once I started reading the story, I couldn't put it down. This is an easy story to read. Though I am not much of a romance reader, I enjoyed this book because felt like I knew the characters in this book, they almost felt like family.

I also liked the descriptions of the locations used in the book because I knew these places and didn't have to use my imagination - I could just picture them as they are. I also learned some new things about some of those places.

There was just enough of a conflict going on through the story to keep me riveted because I 'had' to find out how it was all going to fall into place. And the ending was not as predictable as I thought it was going to be.
This is a feel good story that held my attention and left me happy to have read the book. I think the author did a fantastic job and I am eagerly waiting to hear that there is another one written for me to read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hearts At Risk Review By Sarah Intidam March 2, 2012

My Opinion:

I was enthralled with this novel and not only because of the hunky cowboys (although, that's part of it). Hearts at Risk was a delightful book that I really enjoyed.

The Good:

The novel started at a fast pace. The author did not begin the novel droning on and on about where the characters live, their name, blah blah. And when she did, she did it smoothly to where it fit into the story and I wasn't bored. Frannie talks to her self a lot. I think it's adorable how Fran is always talking to herself out loud all the time. Gives her quirky personality. I like it. Readers are able to relate to the characters. Gloria made the characters in Hearts at Risk personable, which means we readers are able to easily identify with the characters. And not just the main ones.

About the Author

Gloria Ellen Antypowich lives with her husband, in the central interior of British Columbia, Canada. She is an avid reader of several different genres and listens to a wide selection of music. A good game of cards, sharing a laugh with a friend over a glass of wine and spending time with her family are a few of her favourite things to do. And she loves to write. She is fascinated by the dynamics of human relationships. She says "All relationships' have an ebb and flow. Every emotionally healthy couple consists of two distinct individuals, and no two people see things the same way all the time. In fact, I'm sure that any couple who is really honest, has to admit that there have been times when they haven't really liked each other, but the bottom line is, if you both still love each other and are willing to try, you can work through (or around) almost anything . There has to be compromise. Some things you just accept, others you quietly agree to disagree about. And then of course, there must be chemistry." She says her husband was her mentor for the hero in this book. He is a cowboy, a rancher-and a lover. Oh yes- and they still have ``chemistry``.
